一、What is “Mental Arithmetic Science”?

A:Most people consider mental arithmetic as numbers-speed magic game, but "Mental Arithmetic Science" is about mental and potential development, which enables people to settle and tend to intently think through the training process of numbers and image. Both cerebral hemispheres of the cerebrum will be enhanced and students will improve their intelligent talent of Attention, Memory, Comprehension and Logical Inference. It suggests that this science will minimize the young children’s early hurdles in learning, leading them to a more confident and relaxed study mode. At the same time they will behave more successful in the area of interest。

二、What’s the difference of Mental Arithmetic Science and general mental arithmetic?

A:They are different. Most of the general mental arithmetic training courses emphasize on the speed. It will be difficult when the number of digit becomes larger. Even as time passed and added stress of keeping up with schoolwork, the students might forget it as it falls out of use. However, WMA Mental Arithmetic Science courses focuses more on the process of the whole brain development and as a result enhances their comprehension, memory, logical inference and attention. Based on these courses, the children could achieve maximum benefit no matter what they do。

三、What is the best age to learn Mental Arithmetic Science?

A:Many survey reveal that the children could own a better cognition of numbers. The two cerebral hemispheres will be developed though our professional mental arithmetic science courses. It lays the foundation for student at an initial stage, helping them learn everything fast and better among peers. The best age for beginner learning could be 4-10 years old. From the physiology and psychology view, normally, it becomes more difficult to learn it, as people get older. Of course, it is not absolute。

四、What the teaching look like for beginners?

A:The basic courses include the handwriting of numbers and recognizing abacus structure. The visual system teaching makes the number become gadget image in their mind. After good instruction and practice the image becomes clearer and the gadget becomes a smaller factor for the children to calculate it with just the sight of the question。

五、How about the teachers of WMA?

A:After rigorous selection, training process and repeated simulated teaching and trainee experience, discussing the issue of early childhood education, the teachers will be examined qualified and proved to be professional. We often hold inspection for different levels of teachers to enhance their teaching ability。

六、What’s the difference between our textbooks and others?

A:General mental arithmetic classes only have exercise books. Teachers keep everything in mind. The textbooks, exercise books and teachers’ handbook for WMA use complete set of textbooks that are well designed by our professional academic experts and they follow the integrated educational system, with each stage of learning being solid and consistent. As such it lays the foundation for developing both cerebral hemispheres of children and enhancing their learning ability. And it’s easy for teachers to point out and correct the errors in the calculation process。

七、What is the teaching method of WMA? Do we need abacus?

At present there are four used mental arithmetic Teaching Methods (Pen Calculation, Speed Calculation, fingering Calculation and Abacus Calculation), WMA relies on all of them to develop a new course called “The Whole Brain Calculation”. This course also uses abacus, while evolving from tangible abacus concept to incorporeal cerebrum abacus pattern image concept substantially reduces the time of physical abacus practice, helps students master mental arithmetic skill efficiently。

八、What achievements the students have by learning mental arithmetic science?

A:We tracked our students after they ended the course. We found that they show better talent in the area of both study and moral behavior. In 9th December in 2000, three of our students in Taiwan Kaohsiung City broke 4 world records of Mental Arithmetic by the witnesses of city mayor, lawyers, professors, experts and mass audience. And this record has been maintained till today。

九、What do the study classes look like?

A:The courses received is taught by small classes, in two periods a week, 60 minutes a session, with maximum size of 15 students。

十、What’s the difference of campus teaching and WMA?

A:In the official educational system Chinese pupils use electronic calculators from younger grade in primary school which might reduce their intelligent ability of mathematic and thinking. The Mental Arithmetic Science courses will make up for it. Nowadays the official Construction Mathematic system uses the way from highest to lowest digit to compute a question。

20+5=25

Mental Arithmetic Science courses operate almost the same but better concept mode so parents don’t need to worry about the effect。

Multiplication is the concept of cumulating and the remainder is about diminishing concept. Learning mental arithmetic not only increase and promote speed but also help students correct the answer。
